The WE RUN KANSAS HALF MARATHON
will be held on Sunday, October 12th, 2014.The race will start at 6:30AM, with a short devotional by Pastor Ben Scott prior to the start. This race will be held during the Columbus Days weekend festivities, so bring your family for an entire weekend of awesome fun including a hot air balloon glow on Friday night, balloon launches on Saturday and Sunday mornings, a parade, vendors, and even a 5k run on Saturday morning if you want to "loosen up" before the big race! The WE RUN KANSAS HALF MARATHON will begin in front of the Cherokee County courthouse, will continue through some of the business district, head out to the rural farm areas, and return to the business district, ending at the main city park. The terrain is mostly asphalt, however, there is a short portion that changes to gravel/dirt, then returns back to asphalt. There is a highway overpass within the first mile, and rolling hills between the 4th and 6th miles. There are some shaded sections of the course, 6 hydration stations, and EMS / First Aid available. There will be finisher medals for all who successfully complete the course, as well as age group awards. This race will be chip timed. Walkers and strollers are welcome and encouraged, but be mindful of the gravel/dirt portion of the course.
